This week, members of the national team will compete in the 8th Women’s Martial Arts Festival, which will be held at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex and hosted by the Philippine Sports Commission. The competition serves as a qualifier for the AIMAG Combat Sports World Cup.
“Women are an inspiration since one of our greatest successes was made by women.” Our first female Olympic gold medallist. This is the first time sambo has been featured in the Women’s Festival, as well as the first time combat sports have been included in the AIMAG program. “We constantly strive for gender equality,” PSFI President Paolo Tancontian remarked on Thursday at the Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) Forum at Berouz Persian Cuisine in Quezon City.
