The ALL-INKL.COM WTCR World Cup – FIA World Touring Car Cup leader increased his lead over closest opponent Néstor Girolami to a preliminary 53 points as the ALL-INKL.COM Nathanael Berthon’s Comtoyou DHL Team Audi Sport RS3 LMS edged off Münnich Honda Civic Type R TCR for third.

At Bahrain International Circuit, Azcona got off to a faultless start from pole, while Michelisz jumped from fourth to ride shotgun in second. The two surged ahead of the pack to take command of the race.

“It was simple enough,” Azcona conceded. “WTCR World Cup the key to the race was my extremely excellent start.” I was a little nervous about Berthon because we’d seen in past races that Audis are quick and powerful, especially on the straight. But I immediately saw he was having some type of trouble, so there was clear room for me, so it was just a matter of waiting to see what the circumstances were like at night. Because there was no sun and the temperature was quite low, the track was somewhat better than in the morning, so I had decent management with Norbi from this point.”

“I was quite pleased with my automobile for the WTCR World Cup,” Michelisz added. “It was perfect in qualifying, which is a very uncommon occurrence.” As a driver, you always feel in complete control, and I’m really pleased with the continuous growth. But, more significantly, I am overjoyed for the squad and Mikel. He deserved to win the race.”

Berthon, on the other hand, had a bad start from the first row and slipped back into the pack. However, the Frenchman was desperate to reclaim his lost positions and was up to fourth at the conclusion of the first lap, overtaking Attila Tassi’s LIQUI MOLY Team Engstler Honda on the pit straight.

There was plenty of movement in the first corners farther back. A late-braking Franco Girolami sent Nicky Catsburg into a spin at Turn 8. Gilles Magnus, who had started from the rear following an engine change, was also uninjured, his Audi suffering substantial damage to his right-front wheel in the collision.

Berthon was quickly closing up on Néstor Girolami, who was fighting to keep up with 40 kg of compensatory weight. On lap four, Berthon overtook the Honda for the last podium slot.

“Big error, it was my worst start of the year,” Berthon said. “I got a terrible vibration, so I had to deal with it.” Many points were lost. I would have liked to have fought Mikel. Congratulations, he made no errors. We must fight and return stronger. We need to find a way to respond to him.”

Girolami lost another position on the road to Tom Coronel at the WTCR World Cup, but was still placed fourth due to a five-second penalty for the Dutchman who forced Tassi off the road when braking at Turn 10. Coronel was ranked sixth after the penalty was issued, behind Catsburg, who put in a strong recovery effort after his lap-one spin.

Catsburg climbed through the field with a series of stunning moves. On lap nine, he raced down Esteban Guerrieri’s Honda and past him, then found a way through Mehdi Bennani on the outside of the Turn 10 hairpin. Bennani finished seventh, one place behind Coronel, while Guerreri was eighth.

Franco Girolami fought hard to finish tenth on the road, but was penalised 10 seconds for contact with Catsburg, dropping him to the back of the pack. Tassi was able to reclaim the lead after fading after his strong opening lap. Wildcard On his WTCR debut, Viktor Davidovski finished P10, ahead of Dániel Nagy (Zeng Motorsport CUPRA), Tiago Monteiro (Engstler Honda), and Bence Boldisz (CUPRA). To prevent damage, Zeng elected to start its drivers from the pitlane.
